“Elijah was a man just like us. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years. Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops” (James 5:17-18 – emphasis mine).
Elijah was a man just like us. He didn’t have any superhero powers. He was a man. And when he prayed earnestly, God responded.
Do we come to God earnestly and expectantly? Do we believe God answers the prayers of normal men?
When the veil was torn, God granted us full access to Jesus. He invites us to come to Him. Hebrews 4:16 says, “Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.”
Let this example of Elijah being a normal man who earnestly prayed be an encouragement to you today. Go to God in prayer. In earnest belief. In confidence.
He will hear you. He will respond to earnest prayers from men just like us.
